Miss Texas and Miss Teen Texas Pageants Being Held July 5 in Fort Worth

The Miss Texas Organization today announced the date for the 2008 Miss Texas Scholarship and Miss Teen Texas Pageants. As in years past, the pageants will be held on the same night. This year’s pageants are being held July 5, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at the Will Rogers Memorial Center Theater in Fort Worth. The winner of the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant will receive a $10,000.00 scholarship to the college or university of her choice. The winner of the Miss Teen Texas Scholarship Pageant will receive $4,000.00 in U.S. Savings Bonds. The winner of the Miss Texas title will go on to participate in the nationally televised Miss America Pageant in January. The Miss America Organization is the largest source for scholarship assistance for women in the world.

ABOUT THE MISS TEXAS SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
A young woman may compete at the local and state level more than once, but may only compete in the national Miss America competition once. Texas women who are high school graduates, or have completed the academic requirements for entry into a four year college/university degree program by July 30th, are encouraged to participate in a local pageant. In addition, all contestants must be single and never been married, between the ages of 17-24 by September 30th, an amateur or professional, and have a competitive spirit. Miss Texas contestants participate in evening gown, talent, and swimsuit competitions on pageant night.
ABOUT THE MISS TEEN TEXAS SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
The Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen Program began in 1990 as the Miss Teen Texas Program. The program provides young women the opportunity to be better prepared as they move into the “Miss” competition age group. Miss Teen contestants participate in evening gown, talent and fitness competitions on pageant night. The Miss Teen Texas Competition is a program of the Miss Texas Organization.
