PLUS an outstanding 2 out of 5 women want to leave the UK for good

A staggering two out of five women want to flee the UK in pursuit of economic security, a new survey by Canderel reveals today. The state-of-the-nation study into 40’s and 50’s women also uncovers a new behavioural trend for this generation, focusing on wellness over sexiness.

Conducted by leading researchers, the Future Laboratory, the in-depth study has been commissioned by Canderel, the UK’s favourite low-calorie sweetener, to reveal the thoughts of this generation of women.

Finance

With over 50’s controlling more than 60% of the UK’s wealth, this generation is fiercly finance savvy. This should make Gordon Brown sweat as 41% of the financially secure breed is considering emigrating due to the current state of the UK’s economic climate. They are also four times more likely to plan a move abroad with their partner rather than considering financial growth and a future together in the UK.

Tom Savigar, Strategy and Insight Director from the Future Laboratory, comments: “The results show a really liberal attitude and a big shift in the UK’s concerns - compared to 10 years ago it is astonishing for such a high percentage of women of this age (41%) wanting to move abroad for economic security.”

Relationships

Contrary to the sexual appetite of Kim Cattrall (53), Sex and The City actress, who openly focuses on a healthy sex life, a massive 97.5% of women at the same life stage say it isn’t important in their relationship. The results reveal the key to a happy and successful marriage is spending less time between the sheets and more time catching a flick with your partner. Over 7 out of 10 women in happy relationships say that being a good companion with your other half is the most important factor.

Health and wellbeing

With the UK suffering from some of the highest stress levels in Europe, this generation has health and stress under control. 81% are hitting the gym, not only to keep fit but as a natural way to reduce anxiety levels. An enormous 83% say being healthy and fit is the most important factor, over looking young, feeling sexy or having a fab figure.

Off the treadmill and into the kitchen over half prepare and cook food from scratch, with 1 in 4 seeking locally sourced produce. Life is delicious as healthy experiences are accented with pleasurable experiences - with an overwhelming 85% indulging in sweet things.

Socialising

7 out of 10 women would rather abandon a quiet night in and hit the town with friends, or just as likely these days with their daughters. This generation is also embracing new technology, similar to twenty-something women, with over a half of them likely to be found gossiping and speed dating over the internet - underlying their independent and free spirited attitude.

A spokesperson for Canderel comments:

“As Canderel celebrates its 25th anniversary, it’s poignant that a new generation of women have been defined as independent, health conscious and above all know what they want and how to get it!”
