We have showcased quite a few modern homes, cabins, retreats and beach houses already which offer its denizens the best possible view of the ocean while also showcasing the trends of contemporary design. All of the employ lavish use of both wood and glass to give the retreats a ‘holiday’ feel and yet stick to the modern architectural style of sleek and sharp edges and well-defined spaces. This one beach house in Peru though moves away from the popular trend and even does not fall into the category of design that has in recent times seen a growing interest in going back to nature.
The Palabritas Beach House by Metropolis Architects is more a ‘Retro’ styled home that sports rounded edges and is definitely a picture-perfect edifice. In fact, the home itself is designed like one giant picture frame and its rectangular design is exactly akin to that. The idea is to create a home with contemporary interiors that offer all the usual comfort and luxury while the exterior is clad in a shell that is distinct and helps it stand out from the crowd. The rounded edges, the all-white concrete, the beautiful and compact pool, the all-glass front view and the entire design really seem to perfectly capture the illusion of a picture frame!
Not many modern homes or even retreats are shaped in such a form that seems to be so brazenly and boldly retro. We love the home for its amalgamation of the contemporary style with the features brought back from the 60s and 70s.
