Celebrated author to speak at Anthem Healthy Woman event at PPA Event Center on July 9, 2009

Women are great at taking care of others. They juggle work schedules and car pools, figure out how to get 30 cupcakes to school – 20 minutes before they deliver a board room presentation. They drop everything to help a friend in need. Now during these economic times, they are doing even more. Psychologist and author, Barbara McFarland, has been there. She’s heard the stories and she’s been helping women keep on track by teaching them how to remain resilient at home and at work.

A contributor to O Magazine and guest of The Oprah Winfrey Show, McFarland will deliver the keynote address, “You Can Be Resilient,” to nearly 150 Denver businesswomen attending the annual Anthem Healthy Woman seminar, hosted by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Colorado and the University of Colorado Hospital.

WHAT: “Inspired. Energized. Vibrant.” a half-day event to help women get and stay healthy

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9th, keynote address at noon

WHERE: PPA Event Center, 2105 Decatur St., Denver, CO 80211

WHO: Dr. Barbara McFarland will give the keynote address. McFarland is the author of, “Take Back Your Life NOW! Master the Ten Traits of Today’s Healthy Woman,” “My Mother was Right. How Today’s Women Reconcile with their Mothers” and “The Balanced Life.” Over 150 Denver business women will be in attendance.

WHY: Women are born multi-taskers, but in a fast-paced society with demands from all directions, women need to take time out to learn how to take care of themselves so they may continue to take care of others.

Attendees will experience:

  • Break-out sessions and free screenings, such as blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes testing provided by University of Colorado health professionals
  • Lunch and keynote with Dr. Barbara McFarland
  • Health talks with University of Colorado Hospital physicians on topics such as stroke, heart health and integrative medicine
